Sep 30, 2011 Customs act unlawfully on refusing repayment of duty The firm acted successfully on behalf of its client Europlus Trading Limited in an action against HM Revenue and Customs.  Europlus exported duty paid goods to Europe and sought to recover that duty.  HMRC unilaterally, as the First Tier Tax Tribunal has found, changed is policy under the duty draw back regime infringing both Europlus’ European Community rights and the Company’s Human Rights.  Accordingly HMRC has been ordered to pay the company’s claims in full together with its legal costs.  Full details are available from Andrew Benson. ... Jun 7, 2011 16 May 2011 - London Legal Walk Byrne and Partners took part in the 7th Annual London Legal sponsored walk on 16 May 2011. 20 members of the firm set out on the 10 km walk through London, which was led by the Lord Chief Justice, the President of the Law Society and the Master of the Rolls. Together, over 5,500 walkers from the legal profession raised over £460,000 for the London Legal Support Trust, which funds Law Centres and pro bono agencies in and around London.
